Jewellery Care
It is important to look after your Jewellery to ensure that you get the maximum wear out of it.
We therefore encourage all our customers to follow some simple jewellery care tips set out below;
• When you are not wearing your jewellery, store in a cool dry place ideally in a soft-lined box or pouch
• For extra care, you can store your silver jewellery in an airtight container like a plastic zip-lock bag to minimise exposure to air and prevent tarnishing
• Store individual pieces separately to avoid scratching or tangling up
• Silver is a precious metal alloy that naturally tarnishes over time through exposure to moisture from the air, and sunshine. Silver jewellery can be easily cleaned by polishing with an appropriate silver polish cloth.
• If your jewellery contains gemstones as well, make sure that you avoid cleaning them with the silver polish cloth as this may damage them
Silver jewellery with gemstones can be cleaned by washing the whole piece with lukewarm water and a small amount of mild dishwashing soap.
• Do not immerse in water for too long as some stones are porous. Use a soft toothbrush to carefully clean inside the back of the setting where dirt usually accumulates. Pat dry with a soft cloth. Alternatively you can polish the gemstones using a soft lint-free cloth.
• Jewellery that is plated e.g. with gold or rhodium, or has special finishes should be treated with the same care and attention. Make sure you do not over polish plated silver jewellery as you may polish off the plating.
